Job Title: TRAINING CONSULTANT
United States
Job Summary
Role Summary
We are hiring a technically strong instructor to deliver a structured, hands-on bootcamp on Application
Modernisation for cohorts of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and a broader mix of architects,
technical practitioners, and consulting professionals.
The 5-day program covers portfolio discovery, mainframe (IBM Z) modernisation, hyperscaler target architectures (Azure-led, with AWS and GCP coexistence), application refactoring, and agentic AI accelerated delivery. Cohorts progress through
taught sessions, paired and individual labs, and a capstone, where teams use Agent Builder to
Compress a real client modernisation scenario end-to-end.
This is a delivery role that combines hands-on technical fluency with strong facilitation. The instructor runs sessions, walks every lab in parallel with participants, debugs participant environments live, coaches groups through the capstone, and judges final presentations. Success in the role depends equally on the ability to teach conceptually at pace and to recover smoothly from the inevitable lab and environment failures that occur in live delivery.
This is an active, evolving program. Instructors are expected to contribute observations, fixes, and
improvements with every cohort they run.
Educational Qualification
Bachelors' degree is Mandatory
Experience
Teaching and Content Delivery
• Deliver technical sessions across the 5-day arc covering portfolio assessment, mainframe
modernisation, hyperscaler target architectures, application refactoring patterns, and agentic AI
accelerated delivery.
• Translate dense modernization content (6R/7R dispositions, replatform vs. refactor trade-offs,
AP×Q economics, zCloud patterns) into clear explanations for a mixed-skill audience spanning
mainframe veterans, cloud-native engineers, and consulting practitioners.
• Walk through reference target architectures for IBM Z modernisation, Azure landing zones,
hyperscaler coexistence, and containerised application estates.
Live Demonstrations and Lab Facilitation
• Run live technical demonstrations of mainframe modernisation workflows (AMI portfolio scans,
code analysis, replatform/refactor patterns), Azure-based target deployments, containerization,
and Agent Builder workflows.
• Walk all lab exercises in parallel with participants on a shared screen, setting time expectations
and announcing progress checkpoints.
• Monitor participant progress during labs, identify who is stuck, and intervene early with pairing
or targeted support rather than waiting for a hand to be raised.
• Troubleshoot and fix common environment issues (mainframe emulator access, Azure
subscription / RBAC, container runtime, Git, Agent Builder credentials) during preparation and
delivery. Escalate unresolvable issues to the program lead without losing cohort momentum.
